It has been a pleasure and a privilege for me to be associated with Master Musicians for many years, both as performer and a friend. I and my fellow musicians have been greatly impressed not only by the professionalism of the organisation, but also by the incredible warmth and hospitality of everyone involved.

This is a unique group of dedicated music lovers whose enthusiasm for piano playing of the highest quality has attracted top international pianists from around the world to come and play for them. Young up-and-coming pianists are also regularly given invaluable opportunities to perform in front of a very discerning audience!

Visiting performers have use of a first-rate full size concert grand piano and small-scale tours to other venues in the north-east are also enthusiastically arranged. This benefits not only North Shields but also many other communities who would not have otherwise been able to enjoy these high quality performances.

I hope Master Musicians will continue to flourish for a long time to come.

Unique Approach

Over the last eighteen years I have felt as if I were unlocking the Tomb of Tutankhamen, in musical terms, and uncovering as I did so a wealth of treasures.

I had tended to think that truly outstanding pianists were beyond my reach, but once I had made the breakthrough with Marcantonio Barone, I discovered they were only too eager to visit and perform in so-called backwaters like North Shields.

Through playing host during their visits, I have found them warm human beings; as keen to share their talent with our smaller, but appreciative audiences, as they are with those attending the major concert halls.

Many times they have told me how much they appreciate our unique approach to classical musicians...it makes them feel one of the family.

That’s what makes it all worthwhile.
